About

About PEP:

The mission of PEP is to facilitate the exchange of information, technology and experience between the University and institutions and individuals working toward sustainable development in the tropics. To fulfill this goal, PEP focuses on several key initiatives:

  • a community development program
  • strategic training
  • a center for entrepreneurial training
  • external events
  • educational tourism

One of the greatest aspects of the PEP program is that the tours can be customized to fit specific learning objectives, goals or interests. All of EARTH's tours include:

  • a presentation of EARTH's institutional video
  • a customized tour of the University campus
  • a customized tour of surrounding communities facilitated by a bilingual guide (English, French and Spanish).

Tour choices allow participants to focus on an area of interest on campus or in the community. In addition to arranging on-campus and surrounding community tours and activities, PEP coordinators can also help traveling groups arrange additional sight-seeing tours or areas of interest such the beaches of Limon or nearby rain forests where canopy tours and different zip line and hiking opportunities are available.

About EARTH:

EARTH is a private, international, non-profit University that opened its doors in 1990 to prepare ethical leaders to contribute to the sustainable development of the humid tropics and construct a prosperous and just society.

Approximately one hundred new students from the rural regions of Latin America, the Caribbean, and Africa enter the four-year program each year in agricultural sciences and natural resource management.

The campus is located in the Caribbean lowlands of Costa Rica in Guacimo, Limon.
